Frequently asked questions
We’ve put together the most common questions we get from beginners and experienced DJs alike. Take a look below - if you can’t find what you’re looking for, just drop us a message and we’ll get back to you quickly!
Do I need any prior DJ experience to start your courses?
Our courses are designed for complete beginners right through to more experienced DJs. Anyone can start with zero experience, whether you've never touched a DJ kit before or just want to build better skills. We begin with the absolute basics and guide you step by step so you can learn at your own pace with confidence.
What equipment do I need to take your lessons (online, in-person, or video modules)?
No worries if you're starting from scratch—we've got you covered!
- In-person studio lessons: Our professional studio is fully equipped with high-end DJ gear (controllers, mixers, speakers, etc.), so you don't need to bring or own anything. We teach right on our setup.
- Online lessons or video modules: You can follow along with whatever you already have (even just a basic controller or free software like Rekordbox/Serato demo mode on a laptop). If you don't have any gear yet, that's fine—we'll guide you step by step so you learn the right techniques before buying.
- Personalized/custom lessons: We happily teach on your own DJ kit (whatever level you're at) or help you choose and set up the perfect equipment for your goals, style, and budget—so you're confident you're investing in the right setup.
Bottom line - You can start with zero equipment. We'll make sure you're ready and using the best tools for your journey! 🎧
How long does it take to complete a course or become a confident DJ?
There's no fixed timeline - learning to DJ is completely personalised to your pace, goals, and schedule. You control the speed. We focus on real understanding and confidence, not deadlines, so you advance when you're ready, and you'll know exactly when you've hit that "I can actually mix and perform" milestone.
What's the difference between your online lessons and in-person studio sessions?
Online lessons are flexible, convenient, and done remotely via video call with screen sharing, so you can learn from anywhere with your own setup (or even just a laptop). In-person studio sessions happen face-to-face in our fully equipped professional studio, giving you hands-on access to high-end DJ gear, immediate physical feedback, and a more immersive, real-decks experience. Both are fully personalised and equally effective, just choose what suits your location, schedule, and learning style best!
Can I book personalised one-on-one lessons or a custom course?
Yes, absolutely!
We specialise in fully personalised one-on-one lessons and completely custom courses tailored exactly to your goals, current skill level, preferred music styles, equipment, and schedule. Whether you want focused help on specific techniques (e.g., beatmatching, live remixing, or gig preparation) or a bespoke full program designed just for you, we can create the perfect package. Just get in touch and we'll build it together!
Is there ongoing support after I complete my course?
Yes - when you book and complete our 3-course package, you get lifetime access to our support team.
Feel free to reach out anytime with questions, feedback on your mixes, advice on new techniques, gig prep, equipment upgrades, or anything else DJ-related. We're here to keep supporting your progress long after the lessons end!
How much practice time is needed outside of lessons to improve quickly?
Consistency is key! Aim for 20–60 minutes of focused practice per day (or 3–5 hours spread across the week)—consistency matters!
Even 15–30 minutes daily of deliberate practice (e.g., repeating transitions, beatmatching drills, or building short mixes) will accelerate your progress dramatically. The more you apply what we cover in lessons right away, the faster you'll build muscle memory and confidence. We’ll give you specific practice tips and exercises tailored to your level and goals so every minute counts!
What payment options do you offer?
We keep things flexible and straightforward so you can choose what works best for you:
- Pay per lesson - Perfect for one-off or ongoing sessions; pay only for each booked lesson (online, in-person, or personalised).
- Pay in full upfront - Get the best value when booking a full course or package, often includes a discount and secures your spot.
- Deposit to secure bookings - A small deposit locks in your preferred dates/times for personalised or in-person lessons, with the balance due before or at the first session.
All options are secure, and we accept major credit/debit cards, PayPal, bank transfers and cash. Just let us know your preference when booking, we'll sort the details with you!
